Boroujerdi congratulates Morsi upon election as Egyptian president

Tehran, June 25, (ICANA) – Head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi congratulated Mohamed Morsi upon his election as the Egyptian president and said Tehran considers ties with Cairo as already "established" since the collapse of the Mubarak regime.

Boroujerdi said that despite the fact that the two countries lacked formal relations in the form of re-opening of the embassies, they have established ties since the fall of Hosni Mubarak.

He said re-opening of embassies will certainly take its due natural course.

Broujerdi further noted that the victory of Morsi in the harsh competition is a very fortunate development for both the Egyptian nation and the Islamic world.

The parliamentarian said the victory of Morsi in Egypt is certainly a step forward.
