Larijani reiterates Iran-Egypt commonalities
Tehran, June 14, (ICANA) – Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani underscored the Iranian and Egyptian nations' abundant commonalities, and said the two countries enjoy rich cultures and ancient histories.
Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with a group of Egyptian revolutionaries in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Wednesday, where he hailed the Egyptian revolution as 'a severe blow' that led to the isolation of Israel.
"The great revolution of the Egyptian people delivered a hard slap [across the face of] the Zionist regime (Israel) and isolated the inhumane regime," Larijani said.
Larijani described Egypt's popular revolution as a great gift by God to the Islamic world, adding that the blood of the Egyptian nation spilled during the uprising will protect the revolution from plots.
He also referred to the deeply-rooted bonds and commonalities between the Iranian and Egyptian nations and said the two countries enjoy ancient histories and rich cultures.
