Hossein Sheikholeslam:
Syria's expelling of ambassadors undermines diplomacy
Tehran, June 6, (ICANA) – Top advisor to parliament speaker in international affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam says that Syrian government's recent decision to expel the Western ambassadors was a retaliatory act and it can have negative impacts on the future diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis.
In an interview with ICANA on Wednesday, Sheikholeslam said, "Syrian government's recent retaliatory expelling of western ambassadors is deemed acceptable according to international diplomatic norms, but it could have negative impacts on situation on the ground."
He further noted that the move could undermine the efforts made to resolve the political crisis in Syria through diplomatic means.
"It was a mistake for both western and Syrian governments to expel the ambassadors because it delays the peaceful and diplomatic settlement of the disputes is Syria," he added.
